Different Energy Sources

Diverse energy sources provide us with the energy we need to live and work. They include wind, solar, geothermal, and biomass sources. These sources aren’t just a major source for electricity, but also can be used to heat and transport. The main issue with these sources of energy is that they could cause greenhouse gas emissions when burned to generate electricity. This leads to the need for more green energy sources.

The most commonly used kind of energy is fossil fuels, comprised of coal oil, natural gas. They began to form millions of years ago when prehistoric plants and animals died and were covered by layers of sedimentary rock. In the right conditions they were gradually transformed into carbon-rich compounds which, when ignited produce energy. These fossil fuels are non-renewable since they will be exhausted in our lifetimes or even in many lifetimes.

Renewable energy sources are constantly replenished. The sun is the most important source of renewable energy, because it is a source of warmth and light. We use it to power our homes business, cars, and homes. Wind is a different renewable energy source that generates electricity through spinning turbines. Since the first time people realized how to harness the wind in the past, we have been using it for millennia. We use biological processes produce an ethanol (a clear, alcohol-like substance that can be used to make fuel) from food waste and crops.

Hydropower is the most important renewable energy source in America, but biofuels and wind are likely to overtake it. Hydropower relies on nature’s cyclic water cycle to harness the power of swiftly flowing water, which is then used for electricity generation.
